They come from a small village at the end of the world and the four of them are not only terrific entertainers, but also musical virtuosos: Gankino Circus create a unique blend of southern German folk music tradition with gypsy swing, balkan beats and a whole lot of rock’n’roll. Their stage performance is a slightly mad world music show where musical mastership is combined with a high energy level and a sense of weird humour. This has left the jury of the German world music award RUTH without a choice: Gankino Circus are the winners of the 2019 award. Over the past years, Gankino Circus have played more than 1000 shows in theatres, clubs and at festivals across Germany, Austria, Swit- zerland, France, Italy, Hungary, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Georgia and Armenia.
